Fiji Shopping & Markets

Fiji or Viti Levu, is a bargain hunter's paradise. Fiji shopping is everything from International designer outfits through to fascinating Fiji handicrafts. Bartering is not considered polite when purchasing from Fijian vendors but is the expected method of trade for Indo-Fiji vendors.

Start your shopping in Fiji at the major towns of Nadi, Suva and Lautoka. Here you will find the greatest range of stores with goods ranging from jewellery and pearls, through to clothes, silks and fabrics and Fiji souvenirs. Nadi shopping is also known for duty free and electrical goods.

Pick up some of the traditional Fiji handicrafts such as Masi or tapa cloth, woven baskets and mats, wood carvings including kava bowls, and replica cannibal forks reflective of the darker past of Fiji culture. Traditional pottery designs are also available in the main cities as well as Fiji craft and pottery villages on the Sigatoka River. When shopping in Suva, visit the Government Handicrafts centre for the best range and prices.

Take home a Sulu, the popular Fiji dress or sarong that both men and women wear in Fiji to cater to the hot Fiji weather.

Black pearls are available in a range of places in Fiji including Savusavu where they are grown.

Fiji markets are scattered across the map of Fiji, in almost every village. Most are mainly for fruit and vegetables, but the main markets carry a range of handicrafts also. The most popular markets are the Sigatoka Markets on the Coral Coast, the Suva Municipal markets, and the Nadi Markets.
